The University of Malawi’s Centre for Resilient Agri-Food Systems (CRAFS), through its Food and Innovation Hub (FIT-Hub) is taking part in the Farmers Market Exhibition held today at Domino Lodge in Zomba, where it is proudly showcasing a range of innovative, locally made products under its CHIRUNGA brand.
The exhibition provides a platform for agripreneurs, innovators, and small-scale processors to present value-added agricultural products to the public. FIT-Hub’s display features an impressive lineup of nutritious products, including solar-dried tomatoes, solar-dried apples, nutritious paste, nutritious drink, sweet potato flour, and the popular Chirungamo Cookies.
In addition to FIT-Hub’s own innovations, some of the Hub’s incubatees who recently completed the incubation training program are also exhibiting their products and digital solutions.
Among them is Mr. Hope Tolotolo, who is showcasing his freshly made peanut butter, and Mr. Austin Munthali, the creator of the Zakudimba App, a digital marketplace designed to help farmers advertise and sell their produce more efficiently.
FIT-Hub’s participation in the Farmers Market Exhibition reinforces its commitment to supporting agripreneurs, nurturing innovation, and transforming ideas into market-ready products. Through such platforms, FIT-Hub continues to contribute to Malawi’s growing agri-food innovation ecosystem and promote sustainable, value-added agricultural enterprises.
