The Centre for Resilient Agri-Food Systems (CRAFS), in collaboration with RUFORUM and with support from the World Bank, conducted a two-day training workshop on 29β30 September 2025 at the T&D Conference Centre in Zomba. The workshop forms part of the national Capacity Building for ACEs in Malawi initiative, designed to strengthen institutional capacity for establishing, managing, and sustaining Business Incubation Centres (BICs) across the country.
Participants included representatives from CRAFS PiT, the FiT-Hub, the UNIMA Technology Transfer Office (TTO), CARP-E grantees, faculty Principal Investigators, mentors, and FiT-Hub incubatees.
The training provided hands-on guidance on transforming innovations into viable businesses, building sustainable business models, strengthening partnerships with the private sector, and improving innovation management processes. Attendees also gained practical skills in creating compelling pitch decks, engaging investors, and developing strategies for scaling early-stage ventures.
FiT-Hub, which plays a key role in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship within UNIMA and beyond, joined the workshop alongside its incubatees. By participating in this program, the Hub reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing innovators and accelerating the development of market-ready products and solutions.
The two-day workshop marks another important step toward enhancing Malawiβs innovation ecosystem, empowering emerging entrepreneurs, and building resilient, innovation-driven institutions.
